When your colleagues return to delivering a service, please could you ask one of them to let me know when you are open for a call? I file a FOI for the TNA which I will look to for evidence that closing was essential.

23/03/2026

The responsibilities of PHSO are of crucial importance as some of the stories you share of real concerns demonstrate so being clear about when you are available matters. It's bad enough to be let down by the public sector to the extent that it is necessary to enlist your support and worse still to be treated by your Head of Learning & Development / Call Centre Manager as described above. Staff training is key to service delivery and a robust training needs analysis (TNA) ought to have balanced the associated requirement including the timing and medium for the learning to take place with that of maintaining a service to the public through the Helpline rather than the decision at the moment to delivery none right now. Frankly, I feel disgusted by the approach. When your colleagues return to delivering a service, please could you ask one of them to let me know when you are open for a call? I file a FOI for the TNA which I will look to for evidence that closing was essential. I should also like to see the volumetrics of missed calls whilst you have been shut today for training relative to a comparable reference period say last week/month to gauge the impact of the service degradation on the public. To what extent are Inclusion and Customer Service shared values / organisational behaviours and how are you ensuring they are embedded given the 'optics' demonstrated by the messaging about being shut for staff training without saying when that will be over and normal service resumed? You expect MPs (CC) to join in / endorse their constituent's submissions to you; are they aware of your approach to staff training in which you close to deliver it?

05/03/2026

I am a WASPI woman seeking clarity regarding the financial cost of the investigation carried out by the (PHSO) into the state pension age complaints. I have already contacted the service, but I was advised that they do not hold the relevant cost information and that I should contact the PHSO directly. Given that this investigation has taken several years to complete, I would like to request information on the overall cost of the work undertaken by PHSO staff during this period. In particular, I am interested in the estimated total expenditure on staff salaries and resources associated with the investigation into the WASPI complaints. As someone directly affected by this issue, I find it difficult to understand why the findings of the Ombudsman have not been fully acted upon by the . Understanding the cost to the public purse of the investigation is therefore of significant public interest. I would be grateful if you could provide any available information or direct me to the appropriate department that can supply these figures.

Having searched for this information previously, and not having found it, I question whether my foi request is articulated sufficiently. I am not asking for information about the phso- police relationship generally. My question concerns phso obligations to complainants, to the state, where authorities such as the police fail in their prescribed duty so, prejudicing the complainant, perhaps putting the complainant or patient at risk. Its understood the phso remit is one very much limited to offering recommendations however, im quite aware you hold scope to escalate to government, the gmc etc - police not being listed here. Surely where there is serious allegation, one of these authorities may be better placed than the phso to deal with such matters. Does there exist policy here - in relation to alarming authority better placed than you to handle matters outside your remit.

In response to your very unhelpful response: • I have complained to Ofgem about the Energy Ombudsman, and they have failed to deal with my complaint regarding their performance. • I have complained to my member of Parliament which has gone nowhere • I have complained to the Department of Energy Security & Net Zero who refer me back to Ofgem • I have complained to the Public Accounts Committee without response • I have even contacted Rupert Lowe, the only member of the PAC who seems to be awake with no response so far. • I contacted the Cabinet Office who referred me to you. You seem to infer that I have not exhausted all avenues. As you have refused my request without reasonable excuse, I require a review of your handling of my request, which was for an email address in order to make a complaint following the process on the Government Website. It is noted that you failed to append a name to your response.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I request clarification on the PHSO's obligations when a complaint involves matters outside its jurisdiction. What steps does it take to identify correct authority? The PHSO identifies also, the complaint a matter for police. What are its obligations where the complainant identifies failure of the police to act appropriately.

19/02/2026

Policy/legal basis you rely on: Please provide the policy document(s) and/or legal authority you rely on for the statement that PSED does not apply to the Ombudsman’s casework decisions, and the internal guidance used to distinguish “casework decisions” from other functions. Define “new information”: Please define what counts as “new information” for this purpose, with examples (e.g., new documentary evidence; medical evidence; evidence about service failure; evidence the Ombudsman previously did not have; etc.). Request 5.2 — Define “likely change”: Please define how you assess whether new information is “likely” to change the decision (what test/threshold; who decides; is it documented). Request 5.3 — Confirm whether procedural-delay evidence qualifies: Please confirm explicitly whether evidence about delay, mishandling, lack of accountability, or equality-risk concerns can qualify as “new information,” since those matters relate to process integrity, not merely re-arguing the original complaint. please provide the correct postal address for your office, because it was not included in your email to me. 1) Comparator evidence To evidence or rule out bias, please provide anonymised comparator data for the same period, including: • average response times for similar reconsideration or review requests, • the range (minimum, median, maximum), and • where my case sits within that distribution. If you refuse, please state the reason and the policy or legal basis. 2) Complaint and escalation route Please confirm the process for raising a complaint about the Ombudsman’s own handling and delay, including: • who investigates such complaints, • how escalation works, and • what independent oversight exists (if any). 1. Safeguards against anti-Black racism Please identify what specific safeguards, checks, or controls were in place to prevent anti-Black racism from influencing timeliness, handling, or decision-making in my case. If no such safeguards were applied, please confirm that fact and explain why. These questions are asked so that anti-Black racism can be ruled out through evidence and governance, not assumed.
