10/06/2026

I am writing to submit a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would be grateful if you could provide the following data: 1. The organisation’s monthly sickness absence rate for the period January 2025 to April 2026. 2. The organisation’s monthly turnover rate for the period January 2025 to April 2026. In addition, I would appreciate clarification on the methodologies used to calculate these figures. Specifically: • How is the sickness absence rate calculated? For example, is it determined by dividing total sickness absence hours by total contracted hours? • How is the turnover rate calculated? Is it based on a 12 month rolling period, calculated by dividing the total number of leavers in the past twelve months by the average number of employees over the same period? If alternative calculation methods are used, I would be grateful if you could outline these.

I would like to proceed with the second option you suggested — cases relating to Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust that progressed to investigation stage over the last 5 years — as I believe this will provide the most meaningful data. Specifically, within that narrowed scope, I would like to request the following: 1. The number of cases relating to Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust that progressed to investigation stage in each of the last 5 complete financial years, where the complaint component was categorised as "pregnancy and childbirth." 2. Of those cases, how many were: (a) upheld in full; (b) partly upheld; (c) not upheld. 3. Where cases were upheld in full or partly upheld, any brief summary information already held — such as the nature of the failing identified — without requiring the creation of new information.
